Built on
white stone.
AKRA comes from Akra Leuka — the name Phoenicians and Greeks gave to ancient Alicante. White stone. Solid foundations. Built to last. Just like the websites we make.
From a Phoenician hill to a computer screen
Akra Leuka — "the white stone" or "the bright promontory" — was the name Phoenicians and Greeks gave to the hill where the Castle of Santa Bárbara stands today. Alicante, seen from the sea, was an unmistakable white stone: a solid landmark, visible from afar, that didn't disappear in the fog.
When we founded the agency in Alicante a few years ago, we were looking for a name that said something real. Not an empty acronym or an invented word. AKRA is the promise to be what local agencies were not: clear, solid and visible. No fine print.
We come from computing and engineering, but also from design and the arts. Too often we've seen that the two sides don't understand each other — technicians make websites that work but don't move people, and designers make beautiful websites that break. AKRA exists to unite both things in a single team, with no intermediaries.
We're not an agency. We're an atelier.
An atelier is a craftsman's workshop where every piece is made to measure, by hand, with attention to the details that a production line cannot offer. Ateliers don't make fifty pieces a week — they make five, and each one is perfect.
At AKRA we apply the same principle: we work with a maximum of 5 projects per month. Not out of limitation, but by choice. Because when your project comes to AKRA, it has our complete attention — not shared with twenty other clients.
Every website is different. Every client has a unique market, audience and goals. The code we write for you hasn't been copied from another project. The design you use won't be shared with anyone else. That's what it means to work with a digital atelier.
What we saw in the Alicante market
Four principles we don't negotiate
Not office poster values. The four things our clients come back for.
Radical honesty
Clear prices before starting. If a project isn't right for us, we say so. If we think an idea won't work, we explain why — we don't sell it anyway to invoice. We'd rather lose a client than deceive them.
Technical quality without compromise
We don't use WordPress, templates or drag-and-drop builders. Every website is custom-written code, optimised for speed, SEO and security. Does it take longer? Yes. Does it cost more? A little. But it works for years without problems and without depending on third-party plugins that one day stop being updated.
Direct relationship, no intermediaries
No account managers, no sales department, no teams of 5 people you've never spoken to. The person who designs, develops and launches your website is the same one you message from day one. You know exactly who does the work and can ask them directly.
Measurable results
A website is not a painting to hang on the wall. It's a business tool. Every design decision, every line of code and every text on the website has a goal: turning your visitors into clients. We measure, analyse and improve. What can't be measured can't be improved.
We don't believe in agencies that sell dreams and deliver templates. We believe in work done with care, in prices explained without embarrassment, and in websites that still work well five years after being built.— AKRA Tech Studio, Alacant
